Sorority Membership - What Happens After College?
article found at www.thesororitylife.com

Sorority membership starts in college, but it truly lasts a lifetime. When a sorority woman leaves college, she becomes an alumna of her sorority. As sorority alumnae pursue careers around the world, they receive continued support from their sisters, alumnae groups and National Panhellenic Conference organizations.

Alumnae membership provides tools for networking and helps sorority members to feel at home no matter where their lives may take them.

Alumnae organizations may be called different names such as chapters, associations, clubs or social groups and can be found in many cities. They are made up of alumnae of NPC undergraduate chapters across the country and are less structured than those campus chapters.

For women moving to a new city, alumnae chapters and sisters are a welcoming family. Additionally, sorority membership connects women with alumnae from all walks of life. Networking opportunities, help in a career search or advice about a new city are just a few ways alumnae membership helps sorority women stay connected.

Alumnae organizations are committed to the growth and development of their members after their college years. Members participate in fundraising for college scholarships, community service or other philanthropic endeavors to better their communities. Education about new initiatives of the organization, life or business skills and leadership development are just a few of the opportunities alumnae membership provides for women to grow as individuals.

Many alumnae members also serve their sorority as chapter or inter/national advisors. These alumnae members provide support and guidance for the next generation of sorority women and serve as mentors and advisors to chapter members. This rewarding experience helps each organization to continue to support college women in their endeavors to become strong, talented leaders on their campuses and in their communities.
