Sexual Violence 101: College Edition

April marks the 20th year of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. To honor this month, join us for an educational session on sexual violence and assault prevention. Facilitated by education and training specialist for the WOAR Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence, LaQuisha S. Anthony. 

 

WOAR, Women Organized Against Rape, is an organization in Philadelphia working to end sexual violence and fight all forms of oppression. The organization educates and empowers women and young people impacted by sexual violence to help them find their voice. 

 

By attending this program, you will learn:

  • How to identify risk factors associated with sexual violence including alcohol facilitated sexual assault. 
  • Strategies for prevention and active bystander intervention to support a safe campus environment and promote consensual relationships. 
  • How to identify unhealthy relationships and how to support sexual violence and abuse victims.

 

Bio:

LaQuishaLaQuisha S. Anthony is a Philadelphia native and founder of V.O.I.C.E (Victory Over Inconceivable Cowardly Experiences) Inc. A survivor’s network, an organization that aims to develop and encourage the voice of individuals, while removing the stigma that often accompanies being a victim of sexual violence, Intimate partner Violence, Domestic violence, and any other inconceivable cowardly act. She is an education and Training Specialist as WOAR Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence. LaQuisha has devoted her professional life to educating and empowering people with a primary focus on women and young people who have been impacted by sexual violence to find their voice and reach their full potential. She prides herself in creating safe spaces for and amplifying the voices of survivors, especially black women & girls. It is her most precious line of work; yet, not her only. 

 

Laquisha is a woman whose heart is for the community and serving others. She is an author, advocate, motivational speaker, PA certified sexual assault counselor and education & training specialist amongst so many other titles. Her favorite of them all is being an auntie.  She is a woman of many hats and whose voice has made a big impact both locally and nationally. She pursued her undergraduate education at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, and completed an Executive Education Program at Harvard University. LaQuisha was recently honored by Philadelphia City Council for phenomenal work and leadership in the community, was awarded the 2018 KYW Game changer Award, PCAR Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape 2018 Black History Maker, 2017 Women Achievement Awards Top 10 Rising Stars and in 2016 The United State of Women Nominated Change Maker by The White & a host of other notable honors.

Her ability to spread light in the spaces she fills cannot go unnoticed. LaQuisha S. Anthony prides herself in sharing her story to help individuals just like her who have struggled to find their voice.  She is a phenomenal woman of courage with a burning passion to change the world in her generation, one step and voice at a time.
