Philadelphia, PA — Delta Phi Epsilon International Sorority proudly announces the unanimous adoption of its Sisterhood Creed, a landmark addition to the organization’s governing documents that affirms its commitment to creating Sisterhood for a Lifetime.
The Grand Chapter unanimously approved the Sisterhood Creed on June 27, 2026, during the organization’s International Leadership Forum in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Creed is now formally incorporated into the Sorority’s Bylaws as Article I, Section 5 – Sisterhood Creed, becoming a permanent expression of the values that unite Delta Phi Epsilon members across generations.
The adoption of the Sisterhood Creed represents one of the most significant constitutional additions in the organization’s recent history. Rooted in Delta Phi Epsilon’s founding principles of Justice, Sisterhood, and Love, the Creed provides a shared vision for what lifelong membership means while honoring the Ritual, traditions, and enduring bonds that have connected members since 1917.
“The Sisterhood Creed is more than a statement of our values. It is a declaration of who we are and who we aspire to be,” said International President Heather Locke Green. “As we looked toward the future of Delta Phi Epsilon, we wanted to clearly define what sisterhood means beyond the collegiate experience. This Creed reminds us that while our lives, careers, and circumstances may change, our commitment to one another remains constant. It reflects both our history and our promise to every member who will one day call Delta Phi Epsilon home.”
The Sisterhood Creed was developed by an International Governing Board charged committee led by Immediate Past International President Lisa Condon. The Creed was an outcome of the organization’s strategic planning process, which focuses on strengthening lifelong engagement and ensuring every member experiences the value of Delta Phi Epsilon throughout every stage of life. The Creed will serve as a guiding principle for future leadership development, member engagement initiatives, volunteer experiences, and organizational decision-making.
“This is a defining moment for our sisterhood,” said International Chief Executive Officer Nicole DeFeo. “Organizations thrive when they have a clear sense of purpose. The Sisterhood Creed captures the heart of Delta Phi Epsilon while providing a compass for the future. It will influence how we welcome new members, develop leaders, engage alumnae, and continue building an organization where every member knows she belongs, not just for four years, but for life.”
Delegates and members attending Grand Chapter witnessed the historic vote with overwhelming enthusiasm, recognizing the significance of adopting a statement that will guide generations of Delta Phi Epsilon members. The Sorority encourages every member to embrace the Sisterhood Creed and share its message with sisters around the world.
Delta Phi Epsilon Sisterhood Creed
We believe sisterhood is a promise for life, chosen with intention and lived with purpose.
Guided by Justice, Sisterhood, and Love, we choose to be rather than to seem to be, letting our actions reflect our values.
We honor our Ritual as the heart of our bond, connecting generations through shared meaning and trust.
As our lives change, our sisterhood endures. What we give may evolve, yet our commitment remains.
We grow in self, in knowledge, and in service, thinking beyond ourselves for the common good.
As Sisters, we hold one another to the highest standards.
This is our honor. This is our responsibility. This is our tradition.
This is Sisterhood for a Lifetime. This is Delta Phi Epsilon.

Philadelphia, PA – It is with heavy hearts that Delta Phi Epsilon mourns the loss of one of our collegiate members. Stevie DeLuca, a beloved member of the Alpha Rho Chapter at Pace University, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 29, 2026.
Her chapter sisters describe Stevie as “more than just our sister, she was a light in our chapter, someone who brought warmth, laughter, and love into every room.” Stevie was an active and engaged member of the campus, a member of Pace’s cheerleading team, and a dedicated member of Delta Phi Epsilon. She leaves a lasting legacy and impact on her chapter and campus.
The Alpha Rho Chapter wrote in a public tribute, “As we grieve together, we will continue to lean on each other and honor Stevie in the way that she lived. Her memory will forever shape and better our chapter, reminding us every day of the kind of sisterhood we strive to be. Stevie’s impact will never be forgotten. She will always be a part of us, woven into the fabric of our sisterhood forever.”
“On behalf of the entire Delta Phi Epsilon membership, I extend our deepest condolences to the DeLuca family during this time of unimaginable loss. Our hearts and prayers are with them, as well as the members of the Pace University chapter, as they grieve. Moments like this remind us of the strength of our sisterhood. It is where we come together, lift each other up, and provide unwavering support in the face of tragedy. We honor the memory of our beloved sister, and we stand united as a family of sisters around the world.” said Chief Executive Officer Nicole DeFeo.

Philadelphia, PA – Delta Phi Epsilon is proud to announce the 2026-2028 International Governing Board Slate, who will be voted upon by the Grand Chapter Delegation into leadership at the 2026 International Leadership Forum, June 25-28, 2026, in Charlotte, NC.
The International Governing Board (IGB) focuses on the sorority’s overall governance and strategic planning. Its members are elected every two years at Grand Chapter during the International Leadership Forum. These expert individuals represent a wide variety of professional backgrounds that will be vital to the advancement of our organization into the next biennium.
The following individuals are slated for the 2026-2028 International Governing Board:
Heather Locke Green, Beta Chi Chapter at St. Norbert College, International President
Ana Morales, Alpha Gamma Chapter at Florida International University, First Vice President
Lisa Condon, Phi Tau Chapter at Rutgers University-Camden, General Member and Past International President
Laura Glotzbach, Delta Sigma at Rider University, General Member
Jessica Westcott, Beta Nu Chapter at Wesley College, General Member
This upcoming biennium, the slated board has been reduced to five members in accordance with Delta Phi Epsilon’s articles of incorporation. In 2023, Delta Phi Epsilon adopted a new governance system called the Carver model. In this framework, the IGB provides strategic leadership by clearly defining organizational goals and policies. The Carver model allows the board to focus on larger, broader issues of the organization and evaluate its accomplishments. By managing through policy and reporting, a smaller board is more conducive to meeting the governance needs of Delta Phi Epsilon.

Delta Phi Epsilon Mourns the Loss of Past International President Harriette Hirsch

Philadelphia, PA – It is with heavy hearts that Delta Phi Epsilon mourns the loss of Past International President, notable alumna, long-time donor and dear friend Harriette Newman Hirsch. The Delta Nu alumna from Temple University passed on October 3, 2025, at the age of 91.
“Harriette embodied the very best of Delta Phi Epsilon. Her generosity, her spirit, and her unwavering belief in the power of sisterhood shaped our organization in lasting ways,” said Nicole L. DeFeo, Chief Executive Officer. “Her legacy will continue to inspire generations of women to lead in authenticity through justice, sisterhood, and love.”
Harriette joined Delta Phi Epsilon in 1959. She is our only International President to have been an alumna initiate to date. She served as an advisor to her sorority, then a local organization, when Delta Phi Epsilon colonized on campus. She was invited to be an alumna initiate and remained a dedicated sister throughout her life, serving our sisterhood in multiple areas throughout the decades.
Often, she shared with joy and humor that she “owed her life” to Delta Phi Epsilon, because it was through a DPhiE blind date that she met the love of her life, Paul Hirsch, M.D., J.D. This date led to a 45-year marriage and a beautiful family. Yet her commitment extended far beyond her personal story; she poured her passion, energy, and visionary leadership into growing and strengthening Delta Phi Epsilon for generations.
For 25 years, Harriette volunteered as the Scholarship Chair before being asked to serve on the International Executive Council. From 1989 through 1992, Harriette led our organization as International President. She was part of a vital period of substantial growth in the sorority’s history, opening more than 25 chapters in three years. Passionate about scholarship, Harriette helped revitalize today’s Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation during the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee. Her leadership, rooted in unwavering dedication and a belief in the transformative power of sisterhood, left an indelible mark on our organization.
At the 1994 Convention, in appreciation of her dedication to our sisterhood and involvement in all areas of the sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon honored her with a special award in her name: The Harriette Hirsch Sisterhood Award. This award is still given today at our International Leadership Forum to members who have unselfishly given time and resources to ensure the success of our sisterhood.
In 1997, Harriette’s husband, Dr. Paul Hirsch, and family members established the Harriette Hirsch Sisterhood Fund. This special fund provides support for members in dire circumstances with immediate educational needs. The fund fittingly honors Harriette by reflecting her compassion, selflessness and willingness to assist those in need.
“Harriette’s devotion to Delta Phi Epsilon was a defining part of her life, and through her, Paul wholly embraced the sorority, too,” said Emily Meister, President of the Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation. “Together, they invested not just in the organization, but in its future, giving generously of time and treasure so that the sisterhood Harriette cherished would continue to grow, inspire, and endure. The reverence for the Harriette Hirsch Sisterhood Award and the continued vitality of the Sisterhood Fund reflect the deep and lasting impact of their love and generosity for Delta Phi Epsilon, as well as our sisterhood for them.”
Harriette lived our motto “Esse Quam Videri”, to be, rather than to seem to be, every day. She gave her heart, her time, and her extraordinary spirit to Delta Phi Epsilon, inspiring countless sisters to lead with purpose, authenticity, and love.
As we honor the light that Harriette brought to the world and our organization, let us continue to live by her words, “When women of so many diverse backgrounds can come together to sustain a lasting bond, sisterhood offers the cohesiveness for nourishing an everlasting friendship. It is the coming together that will enable us to venture into new environments not with fear or timidity, but with strength and belief in ourselves.”
May her memory be a blessing and a guiding light for all who knew her. Delta Phi Epsilon will forever be grateful for the life she so generously shared with us.
