Delta Phi Epsilon Announces New Assistant Executive Director-Collegiate Services
Philadelphia, PA – It is an honor to announce Jessica McPherrin will be joining the staff of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority as the Assistant Executive Director – Collegiate Services. In this newly created role, Jessi will be responsible for all collegiate programming at the International Headquarters including the International Leadership Consultant Program, chapter recruitment, collegiate programs and officer training and chapter-based leadership initiatives.
Jessi McPherrin brings significant industry experience and a passion for women's leadership to Delta Phi Epsilon. After graduating from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Jessi traveled as a Leadership Consultant for her fraternal organization, Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity. She went on to Florida State University where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration and served as the Graduate Assistant for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, advising the Panhellenic and Multicultural Greek Councils.
Following her time at Florida State, she worked as the Interfraternity Council advisor at Lehigh University. She then became the Assistant Director of Student Involvement at Villanova University, overseeing the fraternity and sorority community. Most recently, Jessi served as the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for LaunchPoint, a coaching and consulting company focused on recruitment and growth within fraternity and sorority communities and national organizations.

Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority Announces New International Leadership Consultant Program
Philadelphia, PA- Delta Phi Epsilon is pleased to announce it will be hiring up to 20 International Leadership Consultants(ILCs) for the 2018-19 academic year. The application process is set to begin November 1, 2017, and close December 31, 2017, at 12:01 EST.
“Serving Delta Phi Epsilon as an ILC will not only be a rewarding experience for the individual sister, its ripple effect of positive support, connection and engagement will create leaders for a lifetime,” says Nicole L. DeFeo, International Executive Director. “The women chosen will have an opportunity to grow as individuals, as well as, help inspire sisters across North America to do the same. We are thrilled to be at a point in our organizational growth to support this type of initiative.”
International Leadership Consultants will travel the country throughout the 2018-19 academic year visiting collegiate chapters and alumnae associations. They will work side-by-side with people from diverse backgrounds, personalities, and generations to support the success of our sisterhood. The position creates an opportunity for building interpersonal communication skills, facilitating trainings, enhancing public speaking skills and raising emotional intelligence. Six weeks paid training and attendance at the International Leadership Conference are included for the successful candidates.

Educational Foundation of Delta Phi Epsilon Announces New Electronic Scholarship Submission Process
Philadelphia, PA - The Educational Foundation of Delta Phi Epsilon is proud to announce their new partnership with SmarterSelect to provide a fully electronic scholarship application process this year.
Over the past several months, the Scholarship Review Team had worked tirelessly with the assistance of International Headquarters staff to update and upload the new scholarship application form to be used for the 2018 scholarship cycle. Everything will be done online this year including recommendation and transcript submission.
“We are excited to provide an upgraded experience to our scholarship applicants this year. We plan to give away $100,000 in awards and anticipate an increase in applications to review. This new process will make it easier for both the members who are submitting applications and the team who must review them,” said Nicole DeFeo, International Executive Director.
The application link on www.dphiefoundation.org is live as of October 1, 2017. The deadline for submission is 11:59 PM EST on January 15, 2018. Awards will be announced in March 2018 and funded June 2018.

Delta Phi Epsilon International Sorority Celebrates 100 Years
Philadelphia, PA- Delta Phi Epsilon, a non-sectarian social sorority founded in 1917 and today one of the fastest-growing organizations of its type in the nation, will celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of their Alpha Chapter’s chartering on Friday, March 17th. Founded at New York University’s School of Law, Delta Phi Epsilon is a 70,000-member international organization that is represented on 106 college campuses across the United States and Canada.
Delta Phi Epsilon’s International Headquarters will be hosting two events on March 17th to celebrate the occasion. In New York City, a bench dedication will be held in Washington Square Park (5 Ave, Waverly Pl., W. 4 St. and Macdougal St.) at 11 am. The location overlooks the original law school building where the sorority was founded. The guest of honor will be International President Stacy Segal.
Segal shares, “Our Founders had a vision for being a non-sectarian organization and our sisterhood continues to build on this vision and fully embodies our founding principles of Justice, Sisterhood and Love. As International President, I am proud of the organization that we have built and it is my honor to dedicate this bench where we were founded and began our history.”
The second event will be hosted at the International Headquarters’ office space, located in downtown Philadelphia (251 S Camac Street), during regular business hours. Guest of honor, International First Vice President and Past International President Tricia Carlin, will be opening a time capsule created in honor of Delta Phi Epsilon’s 75th Anniversary.
Additionally, collegiate chapters and alumnae associations across the country are hosting Centennial celebrations, with 51 already planned. The largest of these events is currently planned for Atlanta, Ga., with the guest list topping 900. Celebrations will continue to be scheduled throughout the calendar year.

Delta Phi Epsilon's Sorority Members Embark on a Month Long Giving Competition to Celebrate Founders and Centennial Year
Philadelphia, PA- Today, Delta Phi Epsilon sisters across the continent and beyond will begin their annual fundraising competition, DIMES for DPHIE. Launched in 2012, as a new donor acquisition campaign, DIMES has become the number one fundraiser, raising over six figures annually for the Educational Foundation of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority. The goal for 2017 is $200,000. This amount is significant as it represents raising $100,000 to celebrate the 100th birthday of the sorority itself, plus $100,000 to show the unwavering commitment to the next 100 years of giving.
The name of the campaign originated from a well-known acronym, DIMES, which uses the first letter of the first name of each founder, Dorothy, Ida, Minna, Eva and Sylvia. These five innovative women founded Delta Phi Epsilon at NYU Law School on March 17, 1917. Each year, during the month of March, collegiate chapter women challenge each other and their alumnae to donate to the campaign and help the chapter raise the most money to support programs and scholarships funded by the Educational Foundation. The chapter who raises the most money receives bragging rights, as well as, a $1,000 check to use for educational purposes for their chapter. Last year, top honors went to the Alpha Gamma Chapter at Florida International University.
In addition to the chapter challenge, there is an individual challenge. The top two fundraising individuals (one alumna and one undergraduate) will each be awarded a special gift from Tiffany & Co. Chapters who have 100% participation at $25 per sister will receive this year’s DIMES for DPHIE shirt for each chapter member. Alumnae and friends who donate $75 or more will also receive the commemorative shirt.

Educational Foundation of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority Announces 2017 Named Scholarship in Memoriam of Sorority Past International President's Daughter
Philadelphia, PA- On February 27, 2017, the Board of Directors of the Educational Foundation of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority voted to award the Madeleine Claire McNulty Memorial Scholarship to a deserving collegiate member of the sorority. The scholarship will honor Madeleine’s life and her family’s commitment to Delta Phi Epsilon through her mother, Past International President from 1999 to 2004, Dawn Barta McNulty, Phi Sigma Chapter at Northern Illinois University.
Dawn currently serves the sorority as the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee and Board Member for the Educational Foundation Board. She sees first-hand the needs of our sisters. Dawn firmly believes that the education that she and her husband, Tom, received gave them the ability, on many levels, to support her daughter's special needs and afford Madeleine the wonderful, full life she enjoyed.
Madeleine was a well-traveled teenager; she was born in Paris, France and grew up in Malmo, Sweden, where she and her family lived until their recent move to Illinois. Madeleine loved her summer camp experience with friends and attending concerts with her family. She was a wonderful dancer and a proud athlete, winning gold medals in The Special Olympics. Madeleine’s kind, generous spirit spread love to whomever crossed her path.
On February 24, 2017 at the age of 16, Madeleine lost her battle with epilepsy. The McNulty’s have designated the Educational Foundation to receive donations in memory of their beloved daughter.

Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation Announces New Scholarship
PHILADELPHIA, PA - The establishment of a new scholarship honoring long-time DPhiE member and leader, Toby Tamarkin, PhD. was announced today by Educational Foundation Committee President, Donna Von Bruening.
Dr. Tamarkin worked her way through Ohio State and went on to have a successful 33-year career as teacher, professor and administrator while touching the lives of hundreds of students. She also was a leader in language education at the local, state, regional and national level.
Recipients of the new award, to be called “The Toby” will mirror her qualifications; Applicants must be studying for a career in education and, like Dr. Tamarkin, must have a job to help them attain their goal. Graduate students who apply should be involved in at least one organization in their educational field.
The scholarship is endowed by the Tamarkin family in partnership with the Foundation, which provides academic scholarships as well as personal development workshops for the DPhiE sisterhood, both active members and alumni.
“Toby Tamarkin is an embodiment of a core DPhiE philosophy: not just “do” something, but rather to “be” something,” Ms. Von Bruening said. She is a scholar, teacher, leader, wife, mother, gardener, friend, boxing judge and tireless champion and role model for women. We are honored to administer this scholarship in her name and ensure the her legacy will inspire many generations of our sisterhood.”
Dr Tamarkin joined DPhiE in 1955 as a collegiate at Ohio State University. She earned her graduate and doctoral degrees in a double major of Spanish language and Literature with advanced teaching methodologies. Before retirement she was Academic Vice President at Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Tamarkin resides in Boca Raton, FL, where she has the unusual distinction of being one of the States few women professional boxing judges. She is an active member of our Educational Foundation’s Scholarship Committee.

Philadelphia, PA – Delta Phi Epsilon is proud to announce the addition of Nancy Hart-Esposito, Phi Tau Chapter at Rutgers University, as Assistant Executive Director- Housing to their International Headquarters Staff.
“Nancy’s decades of experience both in Delta Phi Epsilon housing as a board member and in her career as an attorney, will revolutionize our national housing program to help create a true home-away-from-home experience for our housed chapters across North America. Her unique mix of skills and knowledge will take our programs to the next level.” said International Executive Director Nicole DeFeo.
Nancy, a native of Southern New Jersey, previously worked in the private practice of law from 1992 to 2016. Since 2004, Nancy has volunteered with Delta Phi Epsilon in various roles, most recently serving as President of the National Development Corporation Board. As a charter member of the Phi Tau Chapter at Rutgers University – Camden, Nancy has built partnerships within our sorority, as well as, the greater greek community over the past 3 decades, which will prove invaluable as we build and renovate new properties across the country.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to work on the housing program for our sorority,” Mrs. Hart-Esposito said. “Our organization has had unprecedented growth in the last decade and the ability to offer quality housing options to our chapters will be a key component to sustaining this advancement while enriching the sisterhood experience for our women.”
In this role, Nancy will oversee all aspects of National Development Corporation (NDC) operations including financial, managerial, property ownership and staff. She will also help to transition Local Chapter House Corporation (LCHC) support services, LCHC volunteer support and other assistance for chapter houses, lodges or other facilities into the National Development Corporation. Her start date is July 11, 2016.
“As our sorority is growing, so is our need for safe, competitive housing on various campuses to which we intend to expand. Having a strong development corporation and housing program will be critical to our continued success. We are thankful to have someone of Nancy’s caliber to join our ranks at IHQ. Delta Phi Epsilon Announces Name Change to Biennial Convention
Philadelphia, PA - The International Governing Board will be presenting a resolution at Delta Phi Epsilon’s International Convention this summer announcing the event’s name change. To be named The International Leadership Forum at Convention, this change more accurately describes the experience sisters will receive when attending.
Delta Phi Epsilon’s biennial Convention is held every two years to bring together undergraduate and alumnae members from around the world. For years, Convention served two main purposes, to conduct official Sorority business and provide operational training for collegiate chapter officers. Chapters elected two delegates and joined alumnae associations, international leadership, and headquarters staff.
Today, Convention is fully mission-driven. In addition to the business of Convention, programming is targeted to multi-generational membership providing personal and professional kmspico development. To our knowledge, we are the first National Panhellenic Conference sorority to make this change. This name change will reflect the true purpose of our sisterhood’s biennial meeting.
The International Leadership Forum at Convention presents invaluable networking, growth opportunities and sisterhood building for both our undergraduates and alumnae.

Delta Phi Epsilon Announces Departure of Tiffany Neal
Philadelphia, PA - The International Executive Director, Nicole DeFeo, has announced that after nine years of service to Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority and the National Development Corporation as a valued member of the staff, Tiffany Neal (Phi Gamma at Indiana University of Pennsylvania), will be ending her tenure effective April 30, 2016.
Tiffany has worked for Delta Phi Epsilon since 2007 in roles including chapter services, alumnae services and overseeing sorority-wide operations as the Assistant Executive Director- Sorority. Her most recent role has been serving as the Assistant Executive Director- Housing for the National Development Corporation. In consultation with Tiffany, it was decided that the organization would be better served by restructuring her position to be based in Philadelphia. Tiffany will move on to work in the insurance industry as a broker helping the elderly.
Tiffany shares, "Working for Delta Phi Epsilon has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I look forward to continuing on as an active volunteer and beginning this new and exciting chapter.”
