Delta Phi Epsilon Announces a Department Name Change
Philadelphia, PA – Delta Phi Epsilon International Headquarters is changing the name of its collegiate services department to collegiate experience. Additionally, Brooke Goodman will lead the department in her newly elevated role of senior director. This change will become effective January 1, 2020.
"Delta Phi Epsilon's mission is to provide a sisterhood experience rich with tradition, innovation and opportunities for growth. A key word in that statement is experience,” Goodman explained. The shift from collegiate services to collegiate experience emphasizes DPhiE’s commitment to the holistic growth of its undergraduate members. According to Goodman, this approach allows the organization to provide support that encourages leadership, advocacy, and health and wellness while facilitating organizational growth. “By approaching chapter education and support with a holistic experience in mind, we can better meet evolving member needs and increasingly realize Delta Phi Epsilon's mission."

Enterprise Leadership of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority Announces New Strategic Direction for 2019-2021
Philadelphia, PA - Delta Phi Epsilon leadership announced today the new strategic direction and plan for the enterprise. The strategic plan will guide the organization and position Delta Phi Epsilon as a leader for positive values that strengthen our communities and the sorority experience on campus. The new plan focuses heavily on advocacy in the areas of diversity, inclusion and issues that affect women.
“This plan is very progressive. I am proud of the leadership of our organization in their willingness to tackle the tough issues and have the courageous conversations as this is important work to move the sorority forward,” says International President Stacy Segal, Psi Chapter at the University of Georgia.
In February 2018, the International Governing Board, Educational Foundation Board of Directors, the National Development Corporation Board of Trustees and executive staff team from the International Headquarters met for a strategic planning retreat. Invited speakers included leaders in the fraternal community from a variety of important groups in the sector including university administration and the Fraternity/Sorority Political Action Committee. The board members and executive staff listened as the guests shared important trends in higher education and legislation that impact fraternity/sorority life on campuses across North America. The new direction was set after hours of critical discussion and reflection.
“Through this plan Delta Phi Epsilon is taking a significant step toward truly upholding our value of justice,” said Nicole DeFeo, International Executive Director.
Delta Phi Epsilon has started to set parts of the plan into motion. The formation of a Diversity and Inclusion Task Force is underway. Full implementation of the plan will begin in July 2018.

Delta Phi Epsilon Mourns the Loss of Collegiate Sister
Philadelphia, PA – It is with heavy hearts that Delta Phi Epsilon mourns the loss of one of our collegiate sisters. Kendall Douglas (Gamma Alpha Chapter at Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville) passed away early Monday morning from a fatal car accident.
“No parent should ever have to experience the loss of their child. The thoughts and prayers of the entire sisterhood are with Kendall’s family during this very difficult time,” said Nicole L. DeFeo, International Executive Director.
To help ease the financial burden of this tragedy, the chapter has set up a GoFundMe account on behalf of Kendall’s family. You can search “Remembering Kendall Douglas” to assist.
“She was a ray of sunshine and had the biggest heart. She touched so many lives and everybody had nothing but nice things to say about her… We are so devastated to have such an amazing individual taken from us way too soon,” shares Gamma Alpha Chapter President Brooke Williams.

Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation Announces Election of New President
Philadelphia, PA – The Educational Foundation of Delta Phi Epsilon has elected a new board president, Gina Curtis, Epsilon Upsilon Chapter at Humboldt State University. “The Educational Foundation has reached new heights in recent years with the introduction of many new fundraising programs, new grant-making processes and of course the increase in scholarships awarded both in number and amount. Gina is the right leader for this time of growth. I am very excited to be working with her on new initiatives like planned giving and major gifts coming in 2019.” said Nicole DeFeo, International Executive Director.
Gina has served Delta Phi Epsilon in a number of ways across the last two decades. From chapter advisor work, to founding and promoting the California and Phoenix Alumnae Associations, to serving as Third Alternate Delegate on the National Panhellenic Conference Delegation for DPhiE, she is a leader who can be counted on to bring things to the next level.
When asked about her vision, Gina shared, “My goal is to have consistent and open communication. We are here to listen to the needs of our members and to make sure our board is doing everything we can to support them. It is of utmost importance that we make sure our sisters are prepared to take on the challenges we are facing in these times.”
Gina resides in Mesa, Arizona with her husband, Steve and her two sons, Brandon and Tyler. She will begin her term immediately.

Delta Phi Epsilon Leader Named to Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee Board
Philadelphia, PA – As reoccurring issues challenge the existence of fraternities and sororities on college campuses, the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee (FSPAC) plays a vital role in promoting the positive attributes of these organizations.
International Governing Board General Member Lynna Do, Alpha Iota Chapter at University of San Francisco was recently appointed to this influential board.
“This is where a lot of power is held. If we want to move forward and make a difference we need to be at the table where the decisions are made. This was an important development for both current and future members of the DPhiE community,” says Do.
The FSPAC supports federal legislative candidates who advocate policies that improve the experiences organizations like DPhiE provide their members. The FSPAC also serves to educate legislators about issues important to the thousands of sorority and fraternity members across North America; including concerns for housing, equal access to education and other issues of equality.
Do said FSPAC plays a vital role in educating legislators and the public about the overwhelmingly positive contributions sororities and fraternities make for their members and surrounding communities.
"We do really well by our members and become stronger because of our sorority experience” Do said.
There are more than 60 FSPAC board members including current and former fraternity and sorority leaders, Panhellenic members and advocate professionals. The members work together to build a positive presence in Washington D.C. that essentially protects the fraternal experience Delta Phi Epsilon sisters have experienced for more than 100 years.

These women will spend the summer training at International Headquarters for their year of travel across North America. They will be present at Delta Phi Epsilon’s International Leadership Forum, being held in Buffalo, NY on June 28-July 1, 2018.

These women were selected after a highly-competitive application process that included a weekend of interviews with staff members and high-level volunteers. Representing 12 campuses across 10 states, this diverse group of leaders will spend the next academic year focusing on three key performance indicators: recruitment, leadership, and operations. The team will be led by Brooke Goodman, Coordinator of Collegiate Services- Operations and Leadership.

Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation Announces New Scholarship Honoring Past International President
The establishment of a new scholarship honoring long-time DPhiE volunteer and past International President, Arleen Kruger Honick, was announced by the Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation board.
A legacy of the Psi chapter, Arleen joined DPhiE in 1965 as a collegiate at the University of Georgia. She was very involved as an undergraduate, and soon after graduation Arleen was recruited to volunteer as an advisor. Over the next few years, Arleen rose in the volunteer ranks until, in 1979, she ascended to the highest role as Delta Phi Epsilon’s International President.
Recipients of the Arleen Kruger Honick Scholarship must be undergraduate members of the Psi chapter at the University of Georgia, Arleen’s home chapter. This scholarship will be awarded for the first time to a sister from the current round of applicants for the 2018-2019 academic year.
The scholarship is endowed by the Psi chapter and friends and family of Arleen in partnership with the Foundation, which provides academic scholarships as well as personal development workshops for the DPhiE sisterhood, both active members and alumnae.
Education plays a large role in Arleen’s life, as she worked for many years as a school teacher in Georgia. The establishment of this scholarship in her honor is a true testament to both her love for DPhiE as well as for education.
Arleen resides in Atlanta, GA, and is currently serving Delta Phi Epsilon as an active member of our International Governing Board.

Delta Phi Epsilon Announces New Assistant Executive Director-Collegiate Services
Philadelphia, PA – It is an honor to announce Jessica McPherrin will be joining the staff of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority as the Assistant Executive Director – Collegiate Services. In this newly created role, Jessi will be responsible for all collegiate programming at the International Headquarters including the International Leadership Consultant Program, chapter recruitment, collegiate programs and officer training and chapter-based leadership initiatives.
Jessi McPherrin brings significant industry experience and a passion for women's leadership to Delta Phi Epsilon. After graduating from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Jessi traveled as a Leadership Consultant for her fraternal organization, Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity. She went on to Florida State University where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration and served as the Graduate Assistant for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, advising the Panhellenic and Multicultural Greek Councils.
Following her time at Florida State, she worked as the Interfraternity Council advisor at Lehigh University. She then became the Assistant Director of Student Involvement at Villanova University, overseeing the fraternity and sorority community. Most recently, Jessi served as the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for LaunchPoint, a coaching and consulting company focused on recruitment and growth within fraternity and sorority communities and national organizations.
“Having someone of Jessi’s background working with our organization is going to be a game-changer. We are so excited to have her bring her talents and expertise to our operations. She is a woman of integrity and values transparency; these are traits that make her the perfect fit for our team.” Says Nicole L. DeFeo, International Executive Director.
Jessi will begin her journey with DPhiE on November 13, 2017.
